Trenching

We have trenching machines for all sizes and types of job including one of the biggest in the country that digs trenches up to 900mm wide 2500mm deep and more than 1000 metres per day. At the other end of the scale we can go right down to ultra low ground pressure machine for sports field work digging as narrow as 25mm wide trenches for sand slits. We also have a low ground pressure rubber tyred machine that virtually eliminates damage on both soft ground and hard paved surfaces. All machines can be equipped with soil collection equipment for SPORTS and RECREATIONAL and HIGHWAY works.

Laying 160mm PVC pipe 2.5m deep
Today more and more cable and pipeline installers are recognising the advantages of using trenchers over conventional 360 degree excavators because they:-
  • Have up to 10 times the output
  • Lay pipes or cables at the same time
  • Eliminate the need for trench shuttering
  • Produce an accurate clean cut trench
  • Produce a firm and even trench bottom
  • Give the exact required trench width
  • Have laser control for exact depth and gradient control
  • Work in narrower easements
  • Chop excavated soil finely for safer back-filling
A trencher can usually be rigged to lay cables, ducts or pipes automatically in the same pass thereby cutting out a separate operation involving men working in the trench. Because the trench bottom is firm, smooth and shaped to suit the service being laid, granular bedding material is often no longer required and because the excavated material is chopped finely it can be used as backfill without a granular surround.

We are one of the longest established TRENCHING CONTRACTORS in the country and have installed virtually every type of service. We can help with advice on routing and planning of installations together with surveying and proposal plan preparation. We also undertake remedial LAND DRAINAGE and LAND REINSTATEMENT giving us a full line up including:-
